Fresh Flavours and Summer Harvesting in Full Swing!

Dried Herb Harvest Around the World
Oregano production in Turkey is progressing and if rains continue yields will improve, but the proportion of stocks suitable to meet EU regulations will be down. Rain is unfortunately also good for the growth of weeds which produce contaminants. Parsley in the UK growth has picked up well with the arrival of wet weather. Fields received from one to two inches of rain, even though there had to be a pause in harvest in order to avoid damage to waterlogged land. Our first cut is almost over. Bowlander will always endeavour to provide stocks suitable to meet regulations in the country of purchase, including the need to meet EU requirements which is becoming increasingly challenging for some crops.

IQF Herb Season Update:
Herb production is good in Brittany while parts of the South of France are slightly impacted by the weather causing fewer perennial crops. On average, the herbs season started quite normally. We are still in the early stages of harvesting for many herb crops. The UK weather in July was very good for herb growing and the focus of early harvesting was on quality. Some herbs have been more challenging due to recent dry weather such as IQF Rosemary and IQF Thyme where yields have been lower than expected. The harvest continues into September and early October.
